Basics of Photography

Thanks for stopping by. Photography is a beautiful art. It's not the same as simply taking pictures. To become good at photographer, you will need to read the important aspects of the art, as well as get out there and practice!

I've chosen to highlight four aspects. They are defined below, and there are links to the left for more information.

Depth of Field

The distance between the nearest and the furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera.

Rule of Thirds

A compositional rule of thumb in visual arts such as painting, photography and design.

White Balance

Adjusting a camera's light filtering system to ensure that the camera accurately records true colors.

Zoom

A camera shot that changes smoothly from a long shot to a close-up or vice versa
