Family

I happen to be somewhat of a "mutt" seeing as pieces of my family tree come from many different parts of the world including Ireland, Germany, and even America (Native American). Now, most of my family lives in Tennessee while some reside in Florida and the Carolinas.

I come from the Clevenger family (my father's side) which came from the marraige of my grandfather Fred Clevenger and my grandmother Patricia Moffitt, and the Hurt Family (my mothers's side) which came from he marraige of my grandfather Kenneth Hurt and my grandmother Paulene Ward.

My grandmother, Patricia Moffitt Clevenger, and my father, Michael David Clevenger, are the two most important and influential people in my life. Not only have both guided me to being a successful Highschool honors graduate, but also a first generation college student at James Madison University. Without their loving guidance my dreams of attending a major university may never have come true! Because of this, I am very greatful to be able to attend a university as great as JMU is for me, and try to remind myself everyday!

Music

Music has ALWAYS been a pleasure of mine. I enjoy singing and playing various instruments such as the clarinet, piano, and guitar, although I am not proficient at any particular one. The guitar is the instrument that keeps coming back to me and I try to teach my self new techniques/notes/songs whenever I have free time.

Singing is my main musical outlet, though. I love to sing and always have. I've entered many singing contests and sang at many important events including my graduation awards ceremony and many church and school progams. I have even recorded covers of songs like "Wagon Wheel" by Old Crow Medicine Show while also writing and recording my own songs.

I've even been lucky enough to record some major back-up vocals onto a band called "The Sunsettes" album entitled "Coupe de Grace" which will make it's debut on iTunes in the near future!

The picture to the left is me strumming my first guitar, but the interesting thing is that I managed to take this picture myself!

Photography

Another artistic outlet of mine is for sure photography. I've always had a love and fascination for camera's and the pictures they take.

During highschool, I had the oppurtunity of becoming my yearbook's Editor-in-Chief and while holding the position got to publish many of my photographs and print designs!

Unfortunately, while finishing my photographic portfolio, the entire computer system at my highschool crashed and many of my digital prints not saved on disks were gone. One of my favorites that was saved is to the left and was taken on a family vacation to the Carolina beaches in June 2007.
