Firefly is a television series created by writer and director Joss Whedon that ran for fourteen episodes. Set nearly 500 years in the future, the show follows an ensemble of nine characters aboard a transport spaceship called Serenity as they take a range of jobs to stay alive and flying. No job is too big, too tough, or too illegal as they try to evade the government regime from finding a wanted passenger aboard their ship.
Firefly was first shown in 2002 on the Fox network and, despite its sudden cancellation, it won a large fan base and an Emmy for Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series. Since then, it received strong DVD sales, a film adaptation of the series, and numerous comic books.
